Participatory Modeling: A Methodology for Engaging Stakeholder Knowledge and Participation in Social Science Research

Participatory modeling (PM) is an engaged research methodology for creating analog or computer-based models of complex systems, such as socio–environmental systems. Used across a range fields, PM centers stakeholder knowledge and participation to create more internally valid that can inform policy increase engagement trust between communities teams. The process also presents opportunities co-production eliciting cross-sectional longitudinal data on stakeholders’ worldviews knowledge, risk assessment, decision-making, social learning. We present overview the stages how it be used community-based, stakeholder-engaged science research.
